To the Honorable the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the Co. of Sullivan.

The Petition of Daniel Kelly a native of Ireland respectfully sheweth, that your petitioner arrived in the United States to wit : at _______________ in the month of February A.D. 1850 ** , and that in pursuance of an act of Congress entitled “An Act to establish an uniform rule of Naturalization, and to repeal the acts heretofore passed on that subject,” made a declaration of his intention to become a citizen, and a report and registry of his nativity, age, allegiance, emigration, arrival and intended place of settlement in the United States, conformably to the said Act, before the Court of Common Please (sic) of Sullivan County on the 27th day of February A.D. 1855, a certificate of which is hereunto annexed : and that he has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States for ____ years last past, and for one year last past within the State of Pennsylvania : He therefore prays he may be admitted to become a citizen of the United States.

** Editor's Note: This entry is erroneous. The clerk filling out the citizenship papers, it appears, inadvertently put down the date on which Daniel had first stated his intent to become a citizen (Feburary 1850), instead of his date of first entry (1846).
