Lieber Schwager und Schwägerin!

Jetzt schreibe ich zum zweiten Mal. Ich habe gleich den 8^ten Dezember 1972 geschrieben und noch keine Antwort erhalten. Als ich euren Brief vom 2^ten Dezember 1872 erhalten hatte, habe ich gesehen, dass ihr noch alle gesund seid. Was uns anbelangt sind wir Gott sei Dank noch alle gesund. Ich möchte doch wissen wo die Briefe stecken bleiben, die du schreibst. Ich glaube, dass das Schreiben eine harte Arbeit für dich ist, denn alle Briefe, die an mich geschrieben worden sind, habe ich richtig erhalten, darum glaube ich du schreibst nicht.

Du fragst wer die Haushaltung führe, das sind ich und die zwei jüngsten Kinder. Die drei anderen arbeiten außerhalb, kommen meistens alle Sonntag nach Hause.

Ich will mein Schreiben schließen mit vielen Grüßen und wünsche euch allen ein glückselig Neujahr, Gesundheit und langes Leben und verbleibe

Dear brother-in-law and sister-in-law!

Now I’m writing the second time. I have written directly December 8^th and have not received any reply yet. When I received your letter of December 2^nd I saw that all of you are still well. As far as we are concerned we are all still well, thank God. I would still like to know where the letter get stuck that you write. I think, that writing is hard work for you, because I received all letters that have been sent to me. This is why I think that you don’t write.

You ask who does the housework, it’s me and the two youngest children. The other three work outside and mostly come home on Sunday.

I want to close my letter with regards and I wish you all a happy new year, health and a long life and remain
