ich habe schon einmal an dich geschrieben, aber keine Antwort erhalten, so will ich doch noch einmal die Feder ergreifen und dich wissen lassen, wie es bei uns ist. Wie ich vom Bruder Christian gehört habe, gefällt es ihm auch nicht zum Besten wo ihr seid. Dann möchte ich sagen, wenn ihr könnt, verkauft was ihr habt und kauft euch ein Stück Land in unserer Gegend. Wir wohnen 2 Meilen von der Countystadt, unsere Familie besteht aus 5 Personen, 3 Knaben, Mann und Frau. 2 sind nicht zu Haus, einer ist in Wheeling, Bäcker aber ledig und der andere ist in Sunfish verheiratet, ein Schreiner. Wir haben 120 Ackerland und guten Viehstand überhaupt mit einem Wort gesagt, es geht uns gut. In unserer Gegend wird Tabak und sonst alle Getreiden gepflanzt, wenn es auch um angelegen ist (?). So schreibt uns doch gleich Antwort und wenn es Zeit und Umstände erlauben, so kannst du ja einmal hierher kommen und dich überzeugen, ob es dir hier gefallen tät oder nicht. Es seien viele Deutscher hier her gekommen in den letzten 5 Jahren, auch ist eine neue lutherische Kirche gebaut worden vor 3 Jahren. Willst du nun bei Gelegenheit einmal kommen, so kommst du an in Sunfish welches am Ohio River liegt. Frage nach Enti (?) Guber, das ist mein Sohn, dem tust du sagen wo du hinwillst, der wird dich zurechtweisen von da hinaus noch 16 Meilen bis zu uns.

I wrote to you before but didn’t receive any response so I want to grab hold of the feather one more time and let you know how it is here. As I heard from brother Christian he isn’t very satisfied with where you are, either. Then, I want to say, if you can sell what you got and buy a piece of land in our area. We live 2 miles from the County, our family consists of 5 persons, 3 boys, husband and wife. 2 aren’t home anymore, one is in Wheeling a baker but single and the other is married in Sunfish, a carpenter. We have 120 acres of land and a good herd, overall, we are well-off. Tobacco and all crops are grown here in our area even if it is around here (?). So write a response soon. When time and circumstances will allow you can come here and convince yourself if you like it here or not. A lot of Germans came here in the past 5 years, also, they built a new Lutheran church 3 years ago. If you would like to come on occasion you arrive in Sunfish which lies at the Ohio River. Ask for Enti (?) Guber who is my son to tell you where to go. From there it is only 16 miles to our place.
