PANORAMIC MAPS
The following explanation was posted on eBay in June 2003.
Photographers, using special cameras and film, began taking panoramic photos in the 1850's with this technique reaching its greatest popularity in the early 1900's. These panoramas present towns, cities, universities, sporting events, disasters, modes of transportation, celebrations, the military, businesses, and people as they actually looked many years ago. We offer photos depicting scenes in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, some US Territories, and many foreign countries.
Original panoramic photos existing today were often folded or separated by institutions for ease of storage. The original photos did not have any folds, separations or vertical lines in them. These imperfections, as well as other problems on the old originals such as fading, stains, tears, library stamps and other blemishes were unintended by the original photographer/publisher.
